About Your Experience:

"My boyfriend and I definitely winged it on this trip, we kept postponing it due to our schedules not matching up. We planned out enough to get permits for each mountain except Baldy which only needed the Adventure Pass. We feel Baldy was the hardest with its steepness and also getting caught in a thunder and hailstorm! Plus my boyfriend getting off a 24hour shift and myself getting off late from my night shift made for a late start on the mountain. Mt. San Gorgonio was the best and longest, it had the most moderate trail. San Jacento however had the best view! Being able to see all the way down to sea level from nearly 10,834 ft was an astonishing view!! Overall, we are glad we didn't try to do it in 24hrs, that would have been brutal!! We loved it and found some awesome places to take friends camping."

Challenge Highlight:

"We met a couple on our way up Baldy, the man said he was 79 years old and his wife was 82, they were celebrating their 500+ summit of the mountain. Due to the language barrier it was hard to understand the couple but quite inspiring. About 300 vertical feet from the summit of Mount San Antonio we were caught in a very fast moving thunder storm. Pelting hail bruised my legs, I now call myself a beautiful leopard. As we scurried back down the mountain we experienced lightening too close and hit a tree causing it to fall. We made it down to about the ski hut and waited out the storm. The sky turned blue and we pushed for the top again. We made it to the top and attempted to do a pose with the flag and since no one was around we use the sign at the top of baldy to hold the phone.  The phone timer snapped the shot and died shorty after. Having no idea whether we got the photo or not we still had fun. I twisted my ankle but continued to hike the next two mountains. Hiking the three mountains was the best birthday trip ever. We hope that when we are in our 70s-80s we will still be hiking mountains much like that couple we met.  These challenges make for excellent stories, memories and learning experiences."
