Join A16 for an evening with Eric Poppleton who will share his first-hand experiences about the terrible earthquake that struck Nepal on April 25th, 2015. The earthquake struck with such force that Katamndu’s monuments were left in ruins, villages collapsed, thousands lost their lives and an avalanche at Mount Everest basecamp claimed one of Eric Poppleton's best friend's life in an instant – RIP Tom Taplin.
Eric Poppleton will also talk about the Himalayan Sherpa Foundation (HSF). The HSF is a non-profit organization that is helping the people of Nepal re-build after the devastating 7.9 magnitude earthquake. Donations the to HSF are greatly appreciated and encouraged.

This evening is intended to not only recount stories from Eric Poppleton's expedition but also give back to those who are in need. Eric Poppleton made many friends in Katmandu who, over his two expeditions to Mount Everest Base Camp, made ever-lasting impressions on him for life. The stories will be his personal accounts of what happened during the earthquake.
The village is still rebuilding and will be for sometime. Now that Eric is back home, he wants to help out his friends in Katmandu and build awareness of the HSF.

“I look forward to sharing first hand accounts of a country that gives so much to westerners. If you decide to donate you can do so anytime online. Please go to the website link listed for Himalayan Sherpa Foundation, which has been established by Phurba Gyaltsen Sherpa and his son Mingma Wongchu Sherpa – these two are the real heroes in this story."

"Phurba and Mingma made it possible without hesitation to help me get back up to Everest Basecamp within hours of the quake from Katmandu to retrieve Tom Taplin's body in person in a nearly impossible situation.
Lastly, I will be raffling off one of my images from this expedition at the presentation. Proceeds from the raffle will be contributed directly to Phurba’s foundation.
I look forward to seeing you!"
