EVENT: Baja's Wild Side--FREE!

Posted by Adventure 16 | 06.19.2017

Join PhD shark biologist Daniel Cartamil of Scripps Institute of Oceanography for a look at the wild and remote landscapes of Baja California’s Pacific coast region.

An avid photographer and conservationist, Cartamil’s research landed him in this landscape for a decade, his relationships with local fisherman and academics providing him unparalleled access to natural places of wonder and awe.

His photography from this region, currently on exhibit at the San Diego Natural History Museum, is also available in a new book called Baja’s Wild Side. Don’t miss this chance for an intimate discussion with the author and artist, firsthand.

Friday, July 7: A16 West L.A. Store

Dan Cartamil, Ph.D., is an expert in shark biology at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography in La Jolla, CA. His passion for the natural world has led him to 10 years of photographing Baja California's untamed wilderness, particularly the Pacific coast region where he conducts research to protect migrating sharks from overfishing.

Fluent in English and Spanish, Dan has been able to dive deeply into Baja’s spectacular landscapes with the support of locals, including academic colleagues and artisanal fishermen. Dan is also an environmental consultant and avid conservationist — he lives and plays music in Encinitas, California.
